Asbury is known for its creative use of music and the arts to enhance its worship services. Below are some of the many ways our talented musicians and artists grace our services.
Adult Choir, Director Ray EllisÂ
The Asbury Choir sings for the Sunday worship services (except for a month off in summer). Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6:30p.
Handbells Choir, Director Ray EllisÂ
The Asbury Handbell Choir performs several times a year during the Sunday worship services. Practice is Sunday mornings at 9:00a.
Liturgical Dance
Several times a year we have liturgical dance during our Sunday worship services, oftentimes performed by Asburians and others who train at the Gretchen Greene School of Dance.
Music & Arts Sundays
Whenever a month has five Sundays, we have a special Music & Arts Sunday service, where Rev. Billy Hester gets a break from his sermons. Each Music & Arts Sunday has an assortment of music, dance, skits, puppetry by the "Creative Kids,"Â and hymn singing (Asburians sing their hymns with gusto). These Sundays are always joyful.
Every October, each Sunday service revolves around themes from a Broadway musical. These services are always well-attended by Asburians and people from thoughout the community. 2018 is the 13th year and features the musicals Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady, Singin' in the Rain, and Kinky Boots.
