Confirmation Sunday & Piano/Organ Duets

undefined

Church Family,

One of the most important days in my life occurred in 1968 when I stood in front of my church family with other young people and expressed my desire to follow the teachings of Jesus. This experience with my Confirmation Class was a big part of my faith journey and is a day I will never forget.
I hope you will be able to be at church this Sunday to support the five youth who are part of this year's Confirmation Class. They are:
Aaron Crisp
Caleb Deffley
Payton Harn
Jason "JJ" King
Hayden Lego

Aaron, Caleb, Payton, JJ, and Hayden will be receiving a Bible from the church on Sunday along with their official Asbury nametag as they express their faith and become members of the church. They will also be leading us in worship as liturgists with our scripture readings and offering our morning prayers.
Chris Kincade and I want to thank assistant youth director, Beth Tyson, for organizing our Confirmation Classes, for helping me take the youth on our day trip to St. Simon's Island, and for the great love she always displays for the children and youth of Asbury Memorial and Wesley Oak.

THANK YOU, KAY & HOLLAND — PIANO/ORGAN DUETS

Not only will be experiencing the confirmation of five WONDERFUL youth on Sunday, but we will also be blessed by two instrumental duets. Kay Deffley will be featured on the piano and Rev. Holland Morgan on the organ. They will be playing Christ the Lord is Risen Today for the prelude and Lift High the Cross for the offertory. Thank you, Kay and Holland, for sharing your gifts with these two beautiful Easter songs.

MINISTRY MOMENT

We are starting a new element in our worship services by highlighting one of our ministries each week. This Sunday we will feature our Flower Ministry. We thank all of our volunteers who make the flower arrangements and those who deliver them to people. If you're interested in helping with the Flower Ministry, contact Candace Jenkins.

Nehemiah Action - Monday, April 24th,

Please try to attend the Nehemiah Action event on Monday, April 24th at First African Baptist Church. This very important event is sponsored by JUST (Justice Unites Savannah Together). We will be meeting with city leaders to focus on two main issues: Affordable Housing and Education. We are hoping that more than 700 people from various congregations in Savannah will be in attendance to show how important it is for action to be taken in these areas. Please try to attend and sit with the Asbury/Wesley Oak group. Let's have at least 50 plus people from our congregation in attendance. There is free parking reserved at the Civic Center, several blocks south of the FABC and if you carpool, feel free to drop off your mates at the front door of the church before parking.

New Member Classes in May

If you are looking for a church home, we would love for you to be part of the Asbury/Wesley Oak Family. We offer New Member Classes three times a year. The next classes will be on the last two Sundays in May. If you would like to attend, please contact staff member, Candace Jenkins, by calling of emailing the church office.
