To our loving church family,
I am so looking forward to this Sunday with both of my church homes! It will be another opportunity to celebrate All that God is and all that YOU are! I am also feeling very celebratory because I have just submitted my final assignments for Spring classes! Yay!!Ā
This Sunday, I am receiving the unique blessing to bring the message to both of our churches! So if you canā€™t make it to one but you can make it to the other ā€“ service is at 9:30 at Wesley Oak and 11:15 at Asbury Memorial! If you havenā€™t been over to Wesley Oak yet, this may be a good time to visit! Or, if you can make it to bothā€¦we will have different music for each service!! How special! Iā€™ll be at bothā€¦! (Haha!)Ā
I am incredibly thankful for my church homes every day of my life and even more so on Sundays when I get to experience all the love, the message, the music, the creativity and the spirit of God with you all!Ā
This Sunday, the Revised Common Lectionary presents to us a troubling passage from the First Epistle of Peter. It is text that has been misused and misunderstood, it has caused pain, life-denying ways and death for humanity. I donā€™t believe it is copacetic with the good news of the Gospel and I will address the text.

We are also presented with the ā€œI Amā€ phrases taught throughout the Gospel according to John and it is my intention to lift up these loving metaphors and their meaning against the unrighteous theory that it is ā€œgoodā€ to suffer at the hands of another. I pray that the words of my heart are pleasing in the loving sight of God and that you find my message thoughtful, and that you receive the message with the love and admiration I feel for my whole church family.Ā
In my Epistles course we have been studying from a fantastic book I will be referring to and I would like to recommend to you! It is ā€œLatinx Perspectives on the New Testament.ā€Ā
ļ»æIt brings insightful and refreshing interpretations to the New Testament. The chapter on Philippians is one of my favorites and I did a class presentation on that chapter!Ā
Love,
AugustĀ
