Roll Down, Justice!Dear Church Family,ÂI hope you were able to experience last week's worship service on the first Sunday of Lent. Our Worship Team put together a wonderful service visually, musically, and liturgically. Seminarian, August Alderman, preached an inspiring sermon. If you missed it, be sure to experience it on YouTube. The Service was the PERFECT way to begin the season of Lent!Â
Ray Ellis, Randy Canady, Cheri, and I were part of the Online Community last Sunday because we went to the "God on Broadway Conference" in New York City. Yes, God On Broadway has become so popular that the casts of all the Broadway shows offer us a private performance in the hope that their show will be selected to be part of our legendary Broadway Series in October. They, however, start quivering in their shoes when they hear that they may have to work with the infamous "Billé"!
Before you ask us the selections, please know that it will take a while to determine the final line-up for October...there is a lot to take into consideration. But we should know the results by May.Â
While in New York, I decided to see my "new" favorite rabbi, Ammiel Schwartz. (Please do not tell Rabbi Haas. I told him this trip was solely for God on Broadway.) I thought I would go see Rabbi Schwartz in action with his congregation at The Stephen Wise Free Synagogue. I can't wait to tell you about that experience.Â
There are two more opportunities to enrich our Lenten experience that start this week. Both events are this Wednesday, the 28th.Â
Wednesday Night SupperJoin us this Wednesday at 5:30 for fellowship and food as we break bread together as a church family in Holliday Hall. Please make a reservation by Monday by registering online or by calling the church office.Â
Taizé Services Start WednesdayDuring the season of Lent, we offer a Taizé Service every Wednesday at 6:30 pm. These short, meditative services have become one of our favorite annual offerings for our church family. Come and experience God working within you through the hearing scripture, through chanting Taizé songs, and through silent listening. The services start at 6:30 pm and end about 6:55 pm.Â
Before Wednesday, however, join us tomorrow, for the Second Sunday in Lent. Come see the beautiful waterfall that you helped create. It's probably grown since last Sunday because of your prayers and petitions.
I hope we will continue to help it grow as we seek to roll down justice!
Love,
Billy |
