Dear Church Family,

I hope that the four-week worship series on "Silence & Listening to God's Whisper" was helpful for you. I know it was for me. Let us carry the momentum of our Quiet Times with God into the season of Lent which begins this Wednesday, February 14th.
Since this Sunday will be Super Bowl Sunday, I will be sharing an experience I had last year watching the game between the Chiefs and the Eagles. I know we generally don't think of a football game being the subject for sermon material, but this was a very unique situation. I can't wait to tell you about it.
There are LOTS of things going on at Asbury and Wesley Oak this week. Here we go....

CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF ANGELA BEASLEY ON SATURDAY

Angela Maggioni Beasley
Tomorrow at Asbury, we will be celebrating the life of Angela Beasley at 3:00 pm. All are invited to this unique celebration of a unique life. Since Angela was the "Puppet Lady," some of her special puppet friends are bound to make an appearance. I wouldn't be surprised if Johnny Mercer even shows up to say a few words and to sing one of his songs. All are invited.

SOUPER BOWL EVENT THIS SUNDAY (Tackling Hunger Together)

Our Angells Youth Group will be hosting their annual Souper Bowl Sunday Food Drive this Sunday in partnership with Souper Bowl of Caring! We invite you to join us in tackling hunger by bringing in non-perishable food items. We will have two boxes by the registration table at Asbury Memorial this Sunday - one for the Kansas City Chiefs and one for the San Francisco 49ers. Simply drop your non-perishable items and/or monetary donations into the box for the team you think will win the Super Bowl and we will see which team collects the most donations. All donations will benefit the food pantry at Wesley Oak and P.A.C.K Savannah.

BLOOD DRIVE ON THURSDAY, FEB. 12th

We are sponsoring a Blood Drive at Asbury this coming Thursday from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. I have heard that most of the times have been filled up. Thank you for your wonderful response! If you would like to see if there are any more spots available, register at www.RedCrossBlood.org/give. We thank Rhonda Reed for coordinating this event through our Ministry Round Table.

Whew! I TOLD you that it's going to be a busy week!

I'm looking forward to experiencing a great Sunday with you. The choir will be singing a wonderful arrangement of Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit with soloist, Alexa Schlimmer. Rev. Claire Marich will be leading us in prayer.
At the end of the service, I'm going to be asking everyone to write their name on a strip of cloth that will be in Holliday Hall. So at Coffee Hour, please write your name on the cloth (the cloth and markers will be provided). This will help us for something we're doing for Lent. Even if you hadn't planned to go to Coffee Hour, please drop by to put your name on a cloth. Then place your strip of cloth on the alter rail we have placed by the stage.
If you are part of our Online Community and can't worship with us in person on Sunday, please email the church, and we will put your name on a cloth. Just let us know that you would like to be included. The address is church@asburymemorial.org.
I encourage you to invite others to worship with us. If you are worshipping with us Online, please sign in at the chat and let Terry Harman (our Online Host) know that you are part of the Online Community.
And if you are looking for a church home, please know that we would love to have you be part of the Asbury-Wesley Oak Community!
Don't forget to keep your Sunday bulletins and use them as resources for your Quiet Times - especially during the season of Lent!
I can't wait to tell you about what happened when I watched the 2023 Super Bowl! I can't believe I've kept it a secret for an entire year!!!
Love,
Billy
