The Third Sunday after Epiphany
Dear Asbury & Wesley Oak Family,
Last Sunday, Rev. Richard Allen offered a wonderful sermon at our 11:15 a.m. service. We thank Richard and Lynne for driving all the way from Hilton Head on a cold, rainy morning to bring us some warmth and sunlight. Whatever they did worked! By the end of the service, it was a beautiful day!
Covid Continues...and So Do We
At this time, you probably have at least several family members and friends who have Covid. This strand is highly contagious. The good news is that the vaccines are working. Generally, people who have been vaccinated, but still get Covid, are having mild symptoms and are not being hospitalized unless they are immune compromised in some way. For this reason, Asbury's Health and Safety Task Force STRONGLY advises that only people who are vaccinated and who are in good health attend our "in person services." If you have not been vaccinated and/or have health issues, please remain home and experience the service on television. YOUR HEALTH IS OUR PRIORITY.
If you have been vaccinated and in good health, I hope you will join us for worship "in person." We will take some extra precautions at this time. We will not have Coffee Hour for several weeks and the clergy will not gather in the courtyard to greet congregants. (Though I may try to discover a creative way I can at least wave at you as you pass by!)
Covid Continues...and So Do We
It's going to be another great Asbury service. Our wonderful choir will be leading us in worship and will be singing the anthem, "Order My Steps."Â
For the sermon, I will be using the lectionary texts from Nehemiah and from the Gospel of Luke.Â
The picture I have included in this email is the picture on the front of Sunday's bulletin. On the cover I also include the title of the sermon: Marshal Dillon to the Rescue. Then I've added the words: "Circle Matt Dillon in the picture above."Â
"Is it a trick question?" you ask.
Of course, it is! It wouldn't be any fun if it wasn't.
Circle who you think represents the infamous Marshal Matt Dillon of Dodge City.Â
If you're not familiar with Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke, click on the link below. It is an episode from the 1950's that may help you solve the riddle. A little extra bonus...see if you recognize the guest actor standing with Marshal Dillon near the end of the scene. Let's just say that they look like an odd couple standing there together.Â
Blessings to all of you.
Take care of yourself during these difficult times.
And if you are able, take care of someone else, too.

Love & Blessings,
Billy
