Ecstatic Epiphany, Everyone!
Dear Church Family,
Today, January 6th, is the Day of Epiphany. So, this coming Sunday, we'll be celebrating Epiphany β which is one of my favorite Sundays of the year!
Epiphany comes at the end of the twelve days of Christmas and wraps the season up in a nice little bow with the story of the Magi. Epiphany is a perfect transition from the holidays to the real world. The Magi's journey to the Christ child signals the start of our own attempts to discover God's blessings and miracles. I look forward to going on that journey with you this Sunday.
Helping us out in the service will be three very wise men: Tim Steinhauser, Jason Zimmer, and Chuck Eyler.
Leading us in prayer will be our new Church Council chair, Ernie Lee.
And, of course, the Asbury Memorial Choir will be blessing us with their music.
After we hear the reading of scripture, the children of the church will have the opportunity to experience Godly Play!
We'll also be singing Happy Birthday to Gloria Moses, who will be celebrating her 93rd birthday on Sunday. Gloria is going to try her best to come to the service.
New Member Classes β January 22nd & 29thΒ
We will be having New Member Classes on the last two Sundays in January. If you are looking for a church home or if you simply want to learn more about the church and its ministries, we would love to have you with us.
The two sessions are held after our church service. Our wonderful Hospitality Team supplies lunch for the participants. Candace Jenkins and I will facilitate the meeting. If you are interested in participating, tell Candace on Sunday or call or email the church office.
DID YOU KNOW....
- that the Magi most probably road on horses, not camels
- that the shepherds were not in sight when the Magi found Jesus (the shepherds had come and gone).
- that the Magi didn't find Jesus in a manger, but in a house
- that the Magi and their story have a lot to teach us
- that we're going to have an incredible worship service!
Looking forward to having an Ecstatic Epiphany with YOU!
See you Sunday!
Love & Blessings,
BillyΒ
