Dangerous Heat Levels: With above normal temperatures on the way, please be careful out there and be on the lookout for others who are showing signs of heat stroke: Confusion, altered mental status, slurred speech, Loss of consciousness, Hot, dry skin or profuse sweating, Seizures, very high body temperature. Be extra kind and in prayer for those who must be outside, including but not limited to homeless persons, port workers, delivery persons, landscapers, city and county workers.
I know a good place to cool off on Sundays: Church!
Wesley Oak meets each week for worship and Godly Play at 9:30 am in Thunderbolt, and
Asbury Memorial welcomes you to worship and Godly Play at 11:15 this Sunday and every Sunday.
Summer Preachers: Rev. Holland Morgan will be delivering the message this week. Holland has a wealth of experience in ministry, including music ministry, and retired from Hospice Savannah after 26 years as a hospice chaplain and bereavement coordinator. Holland will also be leading our Grief Seminar on August 13 at 10 am. David Alley, Chair of the Ministry Roundtable (or shall we dub him Sir Alley?) will be offering prayers in worship this week.
I would also like to send a big shout out to August Alderman who captivated our congregation by leading off the summer preaching series and to Rev. Danny Beam, whose faithful ministry in song and preaching is a gift to the church.
Call 9-8-8: Good news for mental health! There is a new national suicide hotline number: 9-8-8. This easily accessed number should save lives. Please commit it to memory and put it in your phones, replacing the old number of 1-800-273-TALK.
Be well and be on the lookout for those who are struggling. A moment of your attention can make someone’s day.
