VBS Starts Sunday Night!

Church Family,
What an exciting Pentecost we had last Sunday!
There's only one thing that can top it: VBS!
Vacation Bible School is the most exciting week of the year at Asbury and Wesley Oak. And it all begins Sunday night!
The teachers and helpers for VBS will be recognized, blessed, and prayed for during the worship service on Sunday. I hope you will be able to be there to show your support and appreciation for the efforts they will be making in ministering to our children this coming week. Some folks have already been at work - decorating the church and making plans for all of the classes, meals, and events. This will be a week that our children will never forget as they learn about being "Heroes" by loving God and loving others.
If there are any parents or grandparents out there who have not registered your child, you may do so by going to this link and signing them up ASAP:

BIG Coffee Hour is Postponed to Next Sunday, June 11th

Hold off from bringing your wonderful goodies to church this Sunday and bring them the following Sunday on June 11th. Since we will be starting VBS on Sunday night, we will not have our Big Coffee Hour after church this week. We, however, will have it on the 11th.

Holy Communion on Sunday

We will be celebrating the Lord's Supper this Sunday. All are invited to Christ's table. If you are worshipping online, we hope you will participate with us...Simply have juice or water and bread or a cracker with you. Remember, if you are worshipping with us online, please drop a line in the chat before the service starts to let us know you are there.

Mark Erelli Concert Benefits Moms Demand Action

After the church paid off its expenses for the Mark Erelli Concert on May 20th, we had $675 left over to donate to Mom's Demand Action for all of the good work this organization does to try to prevent gun violence. We thank Asbury's Theatre Committee for hosting the concert, and we appreciate representatives from MDA for being at the concert to offer information about their organization and Common-Sense Gun Laws.

Film Productions at Asbury & Wesley Oak - Thank You, Randy & PC

Asbury and Wesley Oak have a long history with the arts, especially in the world of Theatre. We want everyone to know that we are also connecting with the world of film and television...and it is greatly benefitting both the Asbury and Wesley Oak campuses.
A comedy produced by Norman Lear, called Clean Slate, needed a church building and has just wrapped up its filming at Wesley Oak. Prior to Clean Slate, Asbury was used for the last Jamie Lee Curtis movie. And now, it looks like Asbury is going to be used for the production crew of Clint Eastwood's next film.
Film companies, of course, pay for the use of the building. In the case of Wesley Oak, they not only paid for its use, they painted the sanctuary and the gathering room downstairs.
We all owe a great big "Thank You" to our administrator, Randy Canady, for helping arrange and coordinate these financial opportunities for the church. We also thank PC Collins, who oversees the Wesley Oak property. Please give them pats on the back when you see them.

The Prokop's Garden of Eden Open Tomorrow, June 3rd

Pat and Mary Prokop will be hosting their annual Open Garden tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 pm. This will be their last open garden for the season. The daylilies are still blooming but the dahlias are stealing the show. The Prokops live in Coffee Bluff Plantation at 17 Cardiff Road.
