Church Family,Â
It's going to be a great weekend!
Tomorrow (Saturday), we will be celebrating the life of Asbury church member, Jimmie Hilton, who made his transition on October 30th. The Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Our prayers are with Jimmie's daughter, Jill Walther, and Jimmie's son-in-law, Gregg Walther.Â
Also, on Saturday from 12:00 - 5:00, we are sponsoring a Blood Drive with Good Fortune Market. Good Fortune is near the church at 2413 Waters Avenue and is owned by Asburian, Becca Goosen. Becca has arranged for Asbury to receive $10 for every donor. Plus, all blood donors will receive $30 worth of TBC Rewards. Please see the Blood Drive Email below for more details.Â
I'm very excited about Sunday's worship service. We will be receiving a class of new members. Candace Jenkins, August Alderman, and I had the honor of meeting with these extraordinary people. I am excited about their journey with us at Asbury. I hope you will be at church on Sunday to give them a warm Asbury welcome!Â
This month is Stewardship Month and on Sunday, Bob and Mickie Townsend will be sharing what Asbury means to them. Bob and Mickie (along with daughter Karen and grandson Benjamin) are Asbury members who live in Statesboro, Georgia. Almost every Sunday, the four of them make the trip to Savannah for church. We appreciate them sharing and look forward to hearing their thoughts about stewardship.
The sermon for Sunday is the one I had prepared for the very last Sunday of the August-September sermon series about The Future of the Church. You may recall that I didn't get to preach it because of Hurricane Helene. The title of the sermon is CREATIVITY: Where the Angels Meet Us. The biblical text for Sunday will be Genesis 28:10-20. It's the story of Jacob's dream at Bethel. We will be singing one of my favorite hymns, "We are Climbing Jacob's Ladder." It's going to be a great service. The choir will be singing the wonderful anthem, "Come to the Music! Rev. Richard Allen will be leading us in prayer. Richard hasn't been able to be with us in a long tome — his "presence will be a blessing.Â
Okay, Church Family!
Have a great weekend! Make it especially good by worshipping with us on the corner of Henry Street and Waters Avenue on Sunday! If you cannot physically get to us, tune in to us on Livestream.
PS — Don't forget!
