Church Family,
Have you heard?
A tribe of hippies have taken over the courtyard and will be our special guests at Asbury this Sunday!
They seem very excited about being with us. They have encouraged us to join their "Love Fest" in the courtyard before the service. I'm not sure what to make of all of this, but it sounds intriguing. I hope you are up for the adventure!
Please feel free to come dressed in jeans, bandanas, bell bottoms, love beads, and other 1960s garb to make our guests feel at home.

Celebration of Life Service for Mary Pulwarty

On Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm, we will be having a Celebration of Life Service for church member, Mary Pulwarty, who made her transition on July 25th. There will be a reception in Holliday Hall after the service. If you are able, please bring a "finger-food" to share with others.
If you are not able to attend the Memorial Service, but still could help supply food, you can leave your food item in the kitchen when you come to church Sunday morning. Thank you for your help.

NEW MEMBER CLASSES — Start a Week from Sunday!

We have New Member Classes three times a year, and NOW is one of those times! Classes will be after church on Sunday, October 22nd and 29th. Lunch is provided. The two gatherings give the participants the opportunity to learn more about Asbury and its ministries. It also gives me the opportunity to get to know you. So, if you are looking for a church home, please consider being part of these classes. Since we need to know how many people will be at lunch, we need you to sign up. All you need to do is email me or Candace Jenkins.
My email address is: bghester3@comcast.net.
Candace's email is: cjenkins@AsburyMemorial.org.

"It's Spooky to be Hungry" FOOD DRIVE

Our youth are sponsoring a Food Drive through the month of October to help support P,AC.K. (People of Action Caring for Kids). Thank you to everyone who has already brought food to the church! If you bring items this Sunday for the Drive, please put them on the stage in Hoillday Hall. For more details about this ministry, please see our October Newsletter. IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT, GREAT SERVICE!!!

Many of you may not realize that some of your favorite songs are from Hair. For instance, "Aquarius" and "Let the Sunshine In" were made famous by The 5th Dimension, but the songs origin was Hair. The choir will also be singing the song "HAIR". made famous by The Cowsills in 1969. Tim Steinhauser and Nick Deffley will be singing the hauntingly beautiful "Easy to be Hard", which was made famous by the group Three Dog Night. The origin of both of these songs is the musical Hair.
It's going to be a great, great service! Get on the phone and get your family, friends, and neighbors there. They will be glad you did.
Love & Blessings....and PEACE!
Billy
