GOD ON BROADWAY! — This Sunday: GREASE
Church Family,Â
The picture above shows the massive backdrop for this Sunday's God On Broadway Service. It is already on the stage in the sanctuary. The musical, Grease, is set at Rydell High School in Chicago, Illinois. But if you look closely, Rydell sure looks a lot like a high school in Savannah.Â
Yes, that looks like Savannah Arts Academy! Or as many of us know it — old Savannah High School.
So, tell all of the Savannah High alum to come to church on Sunday so they can see a GIANT version of their school! They can even get a picture with it after the service. Dust off your High School Annual and bring it with you if you want!Â
We have a little surprise for Savannah High alum within the service. Let's see if the Savannah High alum can figure out the irony of something we do in the service. (I'll let you in on the secret after we do it.)
I want to thank all of our talented artists and techies for all of the magic they have done with our wonderful sets for God On Broadway.
I also want to thank the Gretchen Greene Dancers who will be with us on Sunday as they show us how to Hand Jive!
So GREASE is the word! It's going to be another INCREDIBLE GOB Service! Invite, invite, invite!Â
10 O'CLOCK HOUR - Sunday School for Adults!
SACRED CONVERSATIONS
We'll be taking a one week break from our great study, Living the Questions, to discuss the needs we see in the community. This will help the interfaith organization, JUST (Justice Unites Savannah Together), to determine what areas to focus on in the coming year. Come and share your thoughts and feelings. The discussion will be facilitated by Wayne McGowan, Kathy Hodges, and Rev. Claire Marich. The local Lead Organizer of JUST (Dr. Danielle Pilgrim) will also be present. Please come and meet Danielle. It's all happening in Holliday Hall at 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning.Â
NEW MEMBER CLASSES THIS SUNDAY & NEXT
This is my favorite time of the year because I get to meet and talk with people who are considering making Asbury Memorial or Wesley Oak their church home. If you are wanting to become a church member, we will be having New Member Classes the next two Sundays (the 20th and 27th). We will have lunch together on those two Sundays after the worship service. If you would like to participate, please contact me or Candace Jenkins, so we will know how much food to prepare.Â

"IT'S SPOOKY TO BE HUNGRY" FOOD DRIVE
Our Angell's Youth Group is sponsoring their 4th Annual October Food Drive for P.A.C.K. (People of Action Caring for Kids).  To participate, bring non-perishable food items this Sunday or next Sunday and place them on the stage in Holliday Hall. Thank you!
