GOD ON BROADWAY!
This Sunday: Finding Neverland
Church Family,Â
Many of us in Savannah are familiar with KENSINGTON PARK — the neighborhood off of DeRenne and Waters Avenue. Tomorrow at church, we will be transported to KENSINGTON GARDENS which is a beautiful PARK in London. Kensington Gardens is the setting for the musical, Finding Neverland, the show that we will be using to enrich our worship experience on Sunday. We thank Jason Zimmer, Kathy Hodges, Chuck Eyler, Tim Steinhauser, Dave Lewis and others for all of the painting and constructing of the Kensington Park Set and all of the other previous sets for God On Broadway 2024. We were fortunate to have a special helper for Sunday's set. The late, legendary theatre-lover, artist, and Asburian, Dix Elliott, painted trees for one of our theatrical productions in the 1990s. Dix's trees were saved and are now being used to create Kensington Gardens. Dix would be thrilled!Â
Finding Neverland focuses on the life of playwright J.M. Barrie and the interesting experiences that led him to write the play and book, Peter Pan. Asburian and actor, RYAN MCCURDY, flew in from New York City yesterday in order to portray J.M. Barrie in Sunday's service. GRAYSON and COLLIS WEST will be driving in from Ludowici, Georgia, and FITZ KINCADE from Statesboro to play the children and youth who impact Barrie's life. These four people will have travelled many miles to help you experience this story and its important message. I hope you will travel to the corner of Henry and Waters to experience it. It's going to be sooooo good and sooooo powerful! Bring others with you. This will be our last God On Broadway Service this year. Don't miss it if you can help it! It will be a life changer!Â
