Church Family,Â
The photograph on the left came from our resident astronomer, Pat Prokop. The photo is of the "Pillars of Creation." This miracle in the sky is a mixture of gas and dust that helps in the formation of stars.
The photo is a good lead into my third sermon about the future of the Church, which is titled:
"Science, Mystery, (Mysticism), & Contemplation" (I'll explain why "Mysticism" is in parenthesis on Sunday.)
Last Sunday, I shared some optimistic news about the future of the Church. I've got some more good news to share this week.

I hope you are benefitting from the sermons in this series as much as I have enjoyed the process of creating the sermons. It's going to be a great worship service. Try to invite someone today or tomorrow to attend church on Sunday.
CONGREGATIONS IN SERVICE, TOMORROW!
But before you come to church on Sunday, please consider joining us tomorrow for a wonderful opportunity to meet and work with people of other faith communities. We'll start gathering around the Coffee Pot in Holliday Hall at 8:00 a.m. followed by a brief ceremony at 8:30 before we go to serve at one of the following:Â
- Park Place a home for runaway children at 514 Henry St. They need painting and power washing.
- Safe Shelter for victims of domestic violence. They need help setting up for a yard sale which will be held on Sunday.
- Dog Walking at the Humane Society.Â
- Shelter from the Rain is an agency that helps single pregnant woman. They are in need of supplies.
They have a large supply of donated newborn diapers but need larger sizes. Baby wipes, diaper rash cream etc. please bring items to Asbury, or you can order online and have them sent directly to Congregations in Service C/O Asbury Memorial,1008 Henry St Savannah GA 31401 - We will also have work for those unable to be outside.
No Sew Blankets for the refugee children at Inspiritus, and pillowcases.
Hygiene kits for Church World Service for distribution in Gaza, fires, floods and other disasters. - After our projects, everyone is then invited to First Christian Church on Victory Drive for a fabulous free lunch at Noon. That's my favorite part! Not only because of the good food, but because it's a great opportunity to get to know each other better. Hope you can join us...even if you arrive late...That's okay!
10 O'CLOCK HOUR - "LIVING THE QUESTIONS"
Our Adult Sunday School program is back up and running for the first time since the pandemic. A great group of folks met last Sunday in Holliday Hall. Now all that's missing is YOU!Â
This Sunday, the group will be starting a wonderful series called "Living the Questions." It is one of the best Christian Ed resources that has ever been produced. You will love the presenters on the 20 minute DVD presentation that will be experienced each Sunday. Just as important as this learning opportunity is the chance to build relationships with others in your faith community. Come, try the Ten O'clock Hour. (Coffee will be available at 9:45, so come a little early to chat with others around the coffee pot.)
THE TREE OF LIFE
If you were not able to experience last Sunday's worship service, we added two more names to our Tree of Life Plaque. The Tree of Life displays the names of those who remembered the church in their will or living trust. The names we added were Mary Nicol and Joan Hester Byrd.Â
I look forward to being with you this weekend - at Congregations In Service tomorrow and at church tomorrow for the 10 O'clock Hour and the worship service. Have a great weekend!
Love and Blessings to all!
Billy
