Church Family,
This past week, I met with the church's Nominating Committee. What does a Nominating Committee do? The individuals on this team work together to select members of the church to be nominated for committees and leadership positions. We have already started forming a wonderful list of people who we hope will serve in 2024.
However, if you are interested in serving on a particular committee, will you please call, text, or email me and let me know? If there is someone who has a strong desire to serve in a particular way, we want to know about it. The main committees that we're talking about are:
Staff Relations Committee
Finance Committee
Properties Committee (Trustees)
Nominating Committee
Church Council

  • The Staff Relations Committee encourages and supports the church staff and their families. It helps in the staffing and hiring of paid positions at the church, along with making staffing and salary recommendations to the Church Council.
  • The Finance Committee helps establish an annual church budget and oversees the budget throughout the year.
  • The Properties Committee oversees the church buildings and grounds of the church.
  • The Nominating Committee helps match people's gifts to the church's needs.
  • The Church Council is the governing body for the Church.
Again, if any of you are interested in serving, please contact me by text, call, or email. This is true for people at Asbury and Wesley Oak — both campuses. Please call me on or before this coming Wednesday, as I will be meeting with the Nominations Committee on Thursday, the 28th. Thank you!

THIS SUNDAY IN WORSHIP

I will be leading the worship service on Sunday, but since I am going to be preaching from our God On Broadway Services through Advent and Christmas, I thought it would be good to have someone else preach this Sunday. I'm very excited that this Sunday we will be hearing from an "Asbury Minister" we haven't heard preach before: Steve Tisinger.
Steve is a retired Presbyterian pastor who moved to Savannah 10 years ago with his family. Steve and his wife Julie have been attending Asbury since their children, Sam and Natalie, got involved with Asbury’s youth group during the pandemic. Steve is currently a history teacher at Islands High School and the girls Cross Country coach.  Julie also works at Island HS, while Sam is a junior at Berry College and Natalie is a freshman at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.
Steve entered full time ministry after retiring from the National Park Service. He has served churches in Virginia, Maryland, and Georgia in numerous roles including Christian Education, Youth Ministry, Hospital Chaplain, Missions Pastor, and Senior Pastor.
Thank you, Steve, for helping me this Sunday and for bringing us the message.
