Church Family,

I want to encourage you to attend our Wednesday Night Suppers. For one, the food is great. Secondly, it's the best deal in town! Thirdly, part of the proceeds go to support the Senior Citizens. And lastly, and most importantly, it's a great way to fellowship and connect with one another!

Our attendance numbers have not been huge the past two Wednesdays. However, the relationship building has been HUGE! And I don't just mean between people who didn't know each other. I'm talking about people and their own family members. Rarely do families have a time when they are all at a table together eating. The pandemic has helped me realize just how special our Wednesday meals are. I now treasure this time of getting to be with members of the church family and learning more about their lives. Please come join us if you are able!

Last Weekend for "The Christians"

The play, The Christians, continues its run this weekend with a show tonight at 8:00 and a final performance tomorrow at 3:00 pm. Savannah Rep has done a wonderful job with this this production. The performances are wonderful and the subject matter timely. To get tickets, go to Savannah Rep's website at: https://www.savannahrep.org/

J.J. this Sunday!

The great vocalist, J.J. Collins, often sings for us. But this Sunday, she'll be doing some preaching! And maybe if we're lucky, she'll be doing a little preaching and singing!!

J.J. is the Minister of Music at our Wesley Oak campus. She also has been assisting Rev. Lynn Drake with preaching duties at our sister campus in Thunderbolt. She and her wife, PC, and their dog "Tinker" have enjoyed living in Savannah since 2014. I will tell you a little more about J.J. on Sunday.

I will be present and participating in the service, but as we are just about to embark on our God on Broadway Services, having a week off of sermon preparation is a great gift. You will not only benefit by having the chance to hear J.J., but this extra time will give me a chance to prepare better for the GOB Services. So, thank you, J.J.!

Financial News

We experimented with putting some of Asbury's important financial figures in the monthly newsletter instead of having the figures on the back of the Sunday bulletin. We, however, are way below our attended budget goal and need. So, we've decided to put the financials back in the bulletin, so people can see the numbers weekly. We want to be sure that everyone is aware of the situation. The pandemic, of course, is the main reason for the large deficit. We averaged about $100,000 from loose offerings annually (unpledged funds). Like most churches, we have had small attendance by visitors and constituents. Attendance is improving, but we are currently in a deep hole. On two occasions during my 29 years at Asbury, we were in a similar situation, but the people of Asbury pulled together, and we all got through it. Please pray for our Stewardship Team and Finance Committee as they help guide us and lead us into our Stewardship season.

Last, but not Least...Get Some Good Bar Today

If you read this before 1:00 pm, get to Wesley Oak for some great Pulled Pork Sandwiches with various sides. It's $10 a plate...and the funds go to a great cause — our Youth Program (The Laura Angell Scholarship Fund)!!!!

You better hurry up and get there because I'm just about to go get 10 plates!

Love, Peace, & Blessings,
Billy
