Dear Church Family,
undefined
On Wednesday I called David Alley to see if he could help me with a song on Sunday. David is the chair of our Ministry Round Table, and he's also a very good singer/musician.
Our conversation went something like this:
Billy: David, I'm going to be talking about Vincent Van Gogh on Sunday. Do you happen to know the song, "Vincent"?
David: You mean Don McLean's, Starry, Starry Night."
Billy: Yes, that's the one!
David: Yes, I know it.
Billy: Could you play it on Sunday?
David: You're asking me to play it this Sunday?
Billy: Yes.
David: Really?
Billy: Yes.
David: That's so strange.
Billy: Why's that so strange?
David: Because Pat (David's wife) has arranged for us to go to a Van Gogh exhibit in Charleston on Saturday!
Another one of those Asbury "Wow Moments!"
I guess we'll find out on Sunday how David liked the exhibit.
I wanted to learn more about the exhibit, so I Googled and read about it. It sounds tremendous! It's called, "Beyond Van Gogh."
Here's a link if you want to know more about it.

Holy Communion for On-Liners Too!

Along with celebrating Vincent Van Gogh, we'll be celebrating Holy Communion this Sunday. I hope those of you who will be worshipping with us online will participate. All you need to do is have bread or a cracker with you along with juice or water.

BIG Sunday Coffee Hour

It's the first Sunday of the month, so we'll be having our "BIG" Coffee Hour after the service. Everyone is invited to bring food items to share with others. We want to be sure everybody has the opportunity to get something to eat, so if you are able, please try to bring something. You can drop your item(s) off at the kitchen when you arrive at the church. Thanks so much! And thank you, Hospitality Team, for hosting this event!!!

Wednesday Night Suppers

Speaking of the Hospitality Team, we are just about to do something we haven't done in a long, long time—have Wednesday Night Suppers!!!! We will start back on September 14th. We'll be sending out an email soon with all of the details!

Coming Up....

Pulled Pork Dinner sponsored by our youth group on Saturday, September 10th.
Our Kick-Off Sunday on September 11th that will include a Welcome Back Service at Wesley Oak at 9:30 a.m., a Welcome Back Service at Asbury Memorial at 11:15 a.m., and a Ministry Fair after the service. Rumor is that there will be Leopold's Ice Cream served at the Ministry Fair!

God On Broadway

Last week we announced that due to a recent upswing in Covid cases with our choir members, we will not be using the musicals we had planned to use for God on Broadway this year.
However, we still will be doing God on Broadway. Only this year, we will be using non-musicals. Last Sunday, we announced that one of the shows we'll using is the Tony Award winning show, Amadeus. What show will be announcing this week?
Hope to see you at church tomorrow! Blessings on all who will be worshipping with us online!!
Love, Peace, & Blessings,
Billy
