Kickoff Sunday!
"Big" Coffee Hour

Church Family,

It's the Sunday after Labor Day. That means it is time to kick off the new church year! Join us as we gather together for a special worship service followed by a BIG Coffee Hour in Holliday Hall. If you are able, please bring vittles to share with others as we break bread together. You can drop your food items off in the kitchen when you arrive. I hope you will meet new friends and catch up with old acquaintances at the Coffee Hour Festival!

INVITE

This week I had the pleasure of having lunch with a couple who have been visiting the church throughout the summer. They said they had never experienced a church where they felt so much love and joy. It was great to hear that they felt so welcomed. Some of us who have been at Asbury for a long time may forget just how special the atmosphere is at Asbury. Let us not take it for granted. And let us remember that every human being needs to feel loved and valued. There are a lot of people who need what we can give them. So please invite people to Asbury this Sunday and throughout the year.

READING & CHILDREN

This Sunday, Helen Downing will be telling us about a great opportunity to help children learn to read. This program is not only about improving early language and childhood literacy, but also about building relationships. It's about helping build up a child's confidence and self-esteem. If you are interested in learning more about the program and possibly be a reading mentor, Helen will be at a table at Coffee Hour to answer questions and assist you.

10 O'CLOCK HOUR IS COMING BACK

We will finally start back our 10 O'clock Study Hour on Sunday, September 15th. This is the first time we have offered this study-fellowship opportunity since the pandemic. It would be helpful to know how many people are interested in participating in our 10 O'clock Hour program. A sign-up sheet that will be at a table in the social hall.

"SING" COMMUNITY CHOIR OPEN HOUSE, SEPTEMBER 9TH

We are excited about another way we are helping the children in our church and community. We are just about to start hosting a Children's Community Choir called SING (Savannah Inspiring the Next Generation.) A lot of children have already signed up to participate. There will be an information meeting for the children and parents this coming Monday, the 9th, at 5:30 pm.
Here is a link that will tell you more about the choir: https://heroic-singchildrenschoir.wordpress.com/
