There are orange ribbons hanging along the fence adjacent to the Henry Street courtyard, representing those killed by gun violence in the City of Savannah since January 1, 2015. In the past week, three persons were killed by gun violence, bringing the total for the year to 51.

Rev. Billy Hester relates the Biblical text from Luke (about The Rich Man and Lazarus) to the place called Ebenezer from I Samuel (where Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen and named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the LORD has helped us”) to that of Charles Dickens' novel: A Christmas Carol and Ebenezer Scrooge.
