Dottie tells the story of a French woman who lived in Savannah and was under hospice care. Dottie is a hospice worker, and she runs a program where she allows patients to tell their story, records the interview, and returns it to them on a CD. The French woman's name was Chantal. She began her story when she was a child of five and the Nazis occupied her town in Alsace, France, at the beginning of World War II. This lovely story unfolds over the five years of the occupation, when the Americans liberated the town. At the end of Chantal's story, she tells of a touching twist that explains why she wound up in Savannah. Dottie uses this to encourage the congregation to remember our troops, especially on Memorial Day at 3:00pm, "National Remembrance Moment."
