SPECIAL THANKS:

In 2009, the Asbury Choir commissioned composer Mark Miller to write a song for the 100th birthday of Asbury Memorial UMC. The result was "Welcome to the House of the Lord," which has become one of our favorite anthems.
Rev. Jeanette Purvis announced that Asbury had added three more orange ribbons to the courtyard fence to commemorate the deaths by gun violence of Raymond Williams, age 46, who died on July 26, 2016, Troy Antwan Black, age 35, who died on Septermber 3, 2016, and Carey Moss, age 52, who died on September 5, 2016.
The Rev. Billy Hester bases his sermon on verses from I Corinthians. He asks the question; "Why do we do the things we do?" We are to be "fools for Christ." Those who follow the ways of Christ should be called "holy fools or angelic trouble makers." In his sermon, he also explains Asbury's logo, the clown doll, and how it relates to the concept of Christians being "holy fools."
