July 30, 2017: 8th Sunday after Pentecost Fourth Sunday in the 2017 Asbury Memorial UMC "Summer Preaching Series"
The guest speaker for this Sunday's service was Asburian Ernie Lee. Ernie practiced law for over 20 years. He worked as an instructor for the Georgia Departments of Revenue and Human Resources and the Technical College System of Georgia before becoming in-house lawyer for SCAD in 2003. Changing careers in 2010, he became a public-school teacher. His goal was to make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of others. He currently teaches International Baccalaureate History and AP Psychology at Windsor Forest High School in Savannah. He was named 2016 Georgia Teacher of the Year and traveled across both the state and the country as an ambassador for the teaching profession. In 2017, he was awarded a prestigious teaching fellowship at the Smithsonian Institute.
The flowers for this Sunday's service were given to the honor of God.
Special Thanks:
Every Sunday at Asbury, there are people who work behind the scenes to help make the day so meaningful and wonderful for all of us and for our visitors. We thank those unsung heroes of faith—our hospitality team, ushers, greeters, connectors, nursery workers, and children's church teachers.
