Rabbi Robert Haas, a native of McAllen, Texas, is the 14th spiritual leader of Congregation Mickve Israel in Savannah, Georgia. He joined the congregation in 2012 after spending a year in Africa volunteering with American Jewish World Service. After receiving his BS from the University of Texas at Austin, he began his first career as an elementary school teacher; then he spent a year studying in Israel through the World Union of Jewish Students before entering rabbinical school. He previously served as associate rabbi at both Congregation Emanu El in Houston, Texas, and Temple Shalom in Dallas, Texas.
