A "God on Broadway" Service
Music and Themes from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a musical with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The story is based on the "coat of many colors" story of Joseph from the Bible's Book of Genesis. The show has little spoken dialogue; it is almost entirely sung-through. Its family-friendly story, familiar themes and catchy music have resulted in numerous stagings.
During "God on Broadway," Asbury Memorial place flowers in the Narthex, rather than at the front of the sanctuary.
Special Thanks:
Every Sunday at Asbury, there are people who work behind the scenes to help make the day so meaningful and wonderful for all of us and for our visitors. We thank those unsung heroes of faith—our hospitality team, ushers, greeters, connectors, nursery workers, and children's church teachers.
Note:
The Asbury Memorial United Methodist Choir is a volunteer choir and does not perform for a paid audience. Asbury Memorial does not charge admission for its "God on Broadway" Worship Series. There are no known copyright restrictions being violated in these worship services.
Prologue: "You Are What You Feel" and "Jacob and Sons"
Pharoah elevates Joseph to second in command, whereupon he stores up grain during the seven abundant years. When the famine strikes, he opens the storehouses to feed the Egyptians, and all the world came to Egypt for grain because the famine also afflicted them.
